Hints & tips on how to keep your gorgeous new Swankstore item looking amazing

But your new item is something special and nothing like the standard wash and wear pieces in your wardrobe. Thoughts of mounting dry cleaning bills swirl in your head as you realise that you have no idea how to care for your special new kaftan.

Oh I know the recommendation on the label says 'Dry Clean' but this labelling is a guide, and we all know there will be times when you will need to actually wash your garment and there won't be a dry cleaner within a cooee...hello tropical island 😀

Well, swankstore garments are much tougher than we give them credit for. But you've invested your dollars in a special new item AND you want to wear your garment again and again, so some care taken when washing and wearing it will pay off big time.

Remember, we highly recommend dry cleaning your item to ensure a long life & for it look great with each wear, but if you are going wash it at home, make sure you are HAND WASHING! 

So you took the leap. You clicked 'buy' and now your gorgeous new SwankStore item is on 
its way to you...

STEP 1 
MIX DETERGENT & WATER

Lightly mix a little bit of washing detergent with some cold water in a small sink or bucket

Gently soak your garment in the water & detergent mix, agitating it in the water making sure you do not rub the fabric against each other

STEP 2 SOAK THE ITEM

STEP 3 RINSE THE ITEM

Rinse your item in COLD WATER making sure to remove all the suds & detergent from the wash

STEP 4 DRY YOUR GARMENT

When drying your garment DO NOT WRING the item dry. Instead let the excess water flow freely out of the garment & then roll it up in a towel to rid the item of excess water. The garment should be damp

STEP 5 HANG GARMENT DRY

When the garment is damp, hang the garment on a hanger to retain shape. Make sure you dry your item in the SHADE to retain colour vibrance

STEP 6 STEAM OR IRON

Try to use a steamer if you have one or if you dont, just use a cool iron - Make sure you iron it inside out so that you dont damage the crystals if the dress has them & also use a sheet between the garment & the iron just in case it gets too hot!

THE 13 COMMANDMENTS TO KEEP YOUR GARMENT LOOKING FRESH & NEW

MORE GARMENT CARE ADVICE

1.     Never spray your garment with perfume or deodorant.

2.     Hand wash in cold water with a mild detergent for no more than a few minutes

3.     A little agitation in the water without rubbing the fabric against each other.

4.     Rinse well.

6.     Never put your garment in the clothes dryer...ever!

7.     Don't wring, instead roll in a towel to remove excess water.

8.     Heat will deteriorate your garment so dry in the shade.

9.    Don't spray with water when ironing, a slightly damp garment is better.

10.   A cool iron on the reverse (watch the crystals).

11.   Even better a steamer will release creases, my preferred method. I don't iron...EVER!

12.   When travelling, roll up your garment and pop into a lingerie bag to protect it from snagging.

13.   You don't need to wash after every wear, an ‘air out’ or light steam will do.
